ON FAITHFULNESS, FAITHFUL, AND FAITH

I have been living in the UAE for a few years now and a part of the CFC Singles for Christ at the same span of time.  We all know that UAE is a country dominated by Muslims.  I may have the opportunity to be called a disciple of Christ in the desert but my service in the community was not a bed of roses due to diversified beliefs in this multicultural country. My colleagues of other nationalities and of different faith often ask me on what I do and what do I get in serving Him. Sometimes, it led into arguments especially if those are matters of individual faith practices. It is not easy because there are chances of putting my job at stake but I am not afraid. For me, this is one way of bringing back the glory to Him - to always do my very best to share Christ to anyone in the way that they would understand and know more about Him. I feel blessed that beyond disagreements and explanations done, we now have the support and understanding of each other, and we are now willing to listen and share our beliefs and experiences without judgments and comparisons.

It was mentioned in the Bible that having oppositions and persecutions from people who don’t believe in the Gospel should be expected.  But as we come to think of it, it should not be a burden but a privilege to be called to follow His footsteps, to follow our Master who laid His own life for the salvation of our sins.

It is an invitation to fully trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us in our words and actions and help us to truly reflect and share the love of God to the people around us. It was similar to what Jesus told His apostles, “Do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

I pray to the Lord Jesus to help me to patiently and joyfully accept the adversities, difficulties and discrimination that may come my way in serving Him; to always rely in the Holy Spirit and be used as a true witness to the Lord’s unconditional love; to be an active servant and evangelize others by sharing the Good News; and that He will strengthen me and give me the courage so I may not fall back from doing His will. Amen.
