Prayers… hopes… dreams…these we
have and maybe a lot more.
Many of us get frustrated waiting for our prayers to be
answered and expecting things to happen. But come to think of it, are we not
fortunate that for a time being they stay as they are? - Hanging, floating
somewhere perhaps.
GOD knows so much about us. HE
knows the depth of us – heart, soul and mind. We can be fickle-minded. We can
be selfish. We can be reckless and hasty. And fearfully do not even know what
we really want.
God suspends responding to our
pleas and reacting to our call for HE knows. And so for the meantime, HE gives
us time. Time to ponder.
To carefully reflect on our
prayer – ‘Is this what I really want?’
To deeply and thoroughly consider
the result and consequences of what we are asking for – ‘Will my prayer keep
happy my soul?’, ’Will it glorify my God?’, ‘Will it be for the good of many?’
Time helps us ’re-shape’ and ’re-mold’ our longings.
Time gives us time to pray more.
To pray more about what we are praying for.
Time is our friend, our companion
in purifying our prayers that they may be pleasing before our Lord. God loves
us and wants only the best for us. He answers our prayers. And it pleases Him
that we present to Him only our untainted prayers – beautiful, selfless and
pure.
Time makes ready our hearts to
receive the answer to our prayers… may it be a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’. We might think
that He hasn’t always done what we expect of Him. But God is so much greater
than we are. There is so much we don’t understand about Him, but trust that HE
knows best.
Time strengthens faith. This is
the beauty of waiting. It doesn’t just help purify our prayers but it enriches
the trust we put in the Lord. We wait
not because we hope God will answer our prayers but because we know God will
answer them.
So while we wait, embrace time.
See its beauty and what it can do for us. Time trains us to fear less and less
until we have completely surrendered to God. “Father, let Your will be done”.
His plans are far more beautiful that what we are dreaming for. So if He say
‘no’ to what we have been asking for, let’s praise Him for He has answered us,
telling us that He can give us something much better than what we have prayed
for. Is He not a generous God!
Time helps us reminisce God’s
faithfulness. Time helps us remember what God has done for us through all these
years. His love is so great and deep and indescribable that to question His
ways is not ours to make. He knows! God knows what He’s doing.
God’s makes us wait. God gives us
time. And His timing is most perfect. When our heart is ready, when the time is
right, He will know.
